A Musical Journey through the Thrilling World of Tango When Ruth Roshan was introduced to Argentinean tango in Paris she was captivated. So much so she began her own quintet, Tango Noir, with whom she presents bittersweet, melodic tango inspired pieces. The tango originated in Buenos Aires as a fusion of various musical forms from Europe. It was the music and dance of an underclass - the dispossessed and the outcast. Dancers and orchestras then travelled to Europe and the tango craze over took Paris. Tango Noir recreate the atmosphere of a 30’s Parisian salon laden with flair, elegance, and sauciness.

Friday night at Kulcha is the Perth Launch of Tango Noir’s second CD:

In Tango Noir’s second all original album, “Darling … Keep it to Yourself”, Ruth entwines the rhythms of the cabaret, the tango, the habanera, the vals, to infuse her album with the night moods of 1930s Berlin and Paris, creating music which is new and nostalgic at the same time. It is a very listenable and beautiful album.

Ruth is a cabaret artist of our time, who perfectly captures the mood of that style and era on this album.
