What’s meant by “Golden Age” Milonga…

With only a few days to our next milonga, it’s time to remind you that our in-house tango DJ John Ellis will be presenting another of his superlative programmes of the best of authentic tango music, specially compiled for our “Milonga of the Golden Age” on Friday 10th August, at the Alexandra Hall.

John notes that he arranges the music in an internationally accepted format of tandas separated by cortinas. The tanda is a group of four tangos, and John plays milonga and vals in tandas of three songs. The cortina (cut or curtain in Spanish) is the short musical interlude between tandas, which enables dancers to clear the floor and change partners, thereby enhancing the social aspects of the milonga. So with John’s music, you will always know where you are, whether you are dancing or not!
