Recap: Spiegeltent and Gadfly Gallery with Sidewalk Tango - The way it was

Posted on 18th February, 2013 by Sabrina

What an energetic, refreshing and unique weekend it was at the Spiegeltent. It wasn’t just an entrée but a whole main course - professional tango performances, good humour, and a light hearted view of tango, a cabaret act and professional musicians in the mix! For the general public and some tangueros it was the very first time hearing or seeing the Bandoneon being played and so passionately, as well. As spectators, we often see the final product of any act and we forget the endless rehearsals, dedication, time, energy, passion and preparation invested in putting together a show. With only two performances, Sidewalk Tango enticed the crowd and exposed tango to the greater public, a secret that needed to be told.

Thank you to the Perth Tango community who attended the Spiegeltent and showing your appreciation, and in doing so, making it such a spectacular success! We have already been approached by numerous people asking after the next visit by Sidewalk Tango. We hope to see them back soon.

Our “Thank you” Milonga Soirée for Spiegeltent Performers David and Dianne, Sidewalk Tango,at the Gadfly Gallery on Sunday February 17th was a resounding success.

It was well attended with good social energy, vibrancy and much enjoyment. Our DJ Patrick wooed the crowd again with his musical arrangement and selection, making it a non-stop crowded dance floor. We thanked Sidewalk for their support and contribution to and participation in our Perth Tango Community.

Tango and extraordinary art go hand in hand and we were approached throughout the night for requests to hold another Milonga Soirée at the Gadfly Gallery… it’s a project in the making, so watch this space.
