Things to consider when shopping for Tango shoes

“Wearing comfortable shoes that don’t cause foot problems is important all the time, it really goes without saying, though some of us will squash our poor feet into unsuitable shoes because we like (or love) them! Which usually causes problems in the end or the shoes end up in the charity shop. Tango shoes are a thing of beauty! But also a matter of health, so we can enjoy the Tango Dance all night.”

So what should we take into account when we decide to buy a new pair of Tango Shoes?

Of course you have to like them, but! Don’t forget that you will wear them probably for at least a couple of hours, so your shoes shouldn’t be only “just a pretty face”.

Let’s start with the heel.

If you are a beginner and you don’t have feet problems, you could easily start with a 7.5cm heel. This is not too high, but not too low. Women that have been dancing for a long time (probably your teacher) may wear a higher heel, but you will get to that point eventually. So take it slow.

If you do have feet problems, don’t worry, you can wear a 5.5cm heel. This is not the best option for Tango, but at the end what matters is that you can have fun the whole night without feeling pain.

These are the basics things to consider, but If you have more questions you can write to Che Amor, leading makers of handmade tango shoes in Argentina.
